Career Snapshot:

My name is Andrew Morris. I thank my mother, Katie, for getting me into yoga. She took a yoga teacher training when I was ten years old. It was the first of its kind in our small town in Indiana, and when she finished, she was one of only a handful of instructors in the entire region. I played football, basketball, wrestled, ran cross country, and ran track, throughout my formative years. A small town kid from Indiana in the late 90s, I thought yoga was weird. But on the advice of my mother, I tried it. I was too busy as a kid to dedicate any time to it, but the ancient teachings began to work their magic in the deep recesses of my mind.

When I turned eighteen and went off to College,  I was very stressed out, and my body was very inflexible from years of sports. I began doing some light yoga in my dorm and then apartment after reading “Light on Yoga” by B.K.S. Iyengar, “The Heart of Yoga” by T.K.V. Desikachar and watching old Power Yoga Youtube videos of Bryan Kest. When I began, I couldn’t sit cross-legged without pain in my ankles, knees and hips. I slouched, had lower back pain, and had such tight shoulders that I would wake up multiple times a night with numbness and tingling down both of my arms due to poor circulation. But as the months went on, I started to make progress!

My Native AdVantage

What do you do best?:

I don’t believe I am the best at anything, but I always try my PERSONAL best. I teach Yoga and meditation internationally, and my students seem to enjoy my classes and teachings and keep coming back. I really love helping fellow yoga teachers increase their knowledge base by offering continuing education courses and trainings.

What makes you the best version of yourself?:

Goal setting helps me to be the best version of myself. I have found that when I don’t have concrete goals in life, I am spinning my wheels and merely going through the motions. When I set concrete goals, weekly, monthly, yearly, and long term I have a better direction of where I’m going and can actively work towards achievement.

What are your aspirations? (Personal and Business):

My personal ambition it just to own a small house on the beach in a tropical environment, and enjoy life.

Business wise, I strive to continue growing my online yoga offerings and continue teaching around the world. The more people I can share Yoga with, the more the general happiness and wellbeing of people and the planet will be.

Biggest Success?:

My biggest success so far in life has been owning and operating a brick and mortar Yoga Studio for two years in my home town. I loved being able to bring Yoga and Meditation to my hometown to continue spreading this beautiful practice.

Most Challenging Moment?:

My most challenging moment has been the decision to close my brick and mortar Yoga studio in order to pursue traveling and spreading Yoga internationally. It was hard to let go of something I had worked so hard on, but the future is bright as I continue to grow with traveling teaching.

Motto?:

My personal motto: One Love

Favorite People/Role Models?:

One of my biggest role models in life has been a Yoga teacher named Bryan Kest. He owns a studio in Santa Monica, CA and teaches all over the world. He has been teaching Yoga for 40 years and has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to stick with the practice of Yoga.

Favorite Places/Destinations?:

The most incredible place I have ever experienced is the Maldives. It is very remote, sitting in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and is the true definition of paradise. Crystal blue waters of dozens of hues, with abundant sea turtles, dolphins and marine wildlife all around. The sand is soft, the weather is incredible, and there are very few mosquitos as well. I would love to live there if it wasn’t so far from my family

Favorite Products/Objects?:

My favorite product in my field is the Yoga Wheel. It is a relatively new product, but allows you to roll and massage out your back and open your chest and shoulders. It’s really effective at counteracting the effects of sitting at a computer or using a cell phone. Everyone should have one!

Current Passions?:

My current passion is continuing to serve my local community, both in person and online, through Yoga. And also traveling to different locations around the United States and internationally spreading the pure teachings of Yoga.
