Hi all! My name is Aviram Shotten, product of 1979, genuinely passionate about my work. I’m a true believer that there is nothing like a great team around you, and that finding the right team is about the balance between building trust and fully open communication.
I joined QualiTest in 2005 and had so many experiences, in so many places and projects, and, equally important, seen a small testing services company turn into a world’s largest software testing firm.
Between writing this Bio and other casual activities, I am currently working in QualiTest Group as Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer.
I encourage complete open mindedness, while at the same time keeping my team’s eyes on the prize, ensuring that nothing we work on or produce is too theoretical or academic to leverage.
I don’t know if I’m the best, I honestly assume I’m not, which drives me to work harder. Having this in mind enables me to stay sharp and on my toes throughout my work. I most enjoy assisting organizations and individuals, and staying humble allows me to understand other people’s wants and needs, helping me to help others.
My goal is to be a true innovator. Advice I will never forget is to be careful about working in a place where I stop learning, and always giving knowledge to others. I am beyond lucky to be working at QualiTest, a place where I am constantly learning and always inventing.
It would be the productizations of the knowledge and IP of QualiTest. As the saying goes, “one man’s knowledge is another’s innovation” and we must truly live to that verbiage. When the AI testing initiative was started by QualiTest, there was a mentality that there was no way we could ever do that. Now, QualiTest’s AI testing capabilities are thriving, with dozens of clients relying on the exceptional success of the tool.
I would have to say it was moving to QualiTest’s UK offices in 2013 after originally living in Israel. Having to transition to a new culture, company and taking part in a merger effort showed me how to be humble, and how to always ask what is important, and what the right thing to do is.
Out of the many I hear for all sorts of occasions, I would combine “where there is a will there is a way” and “The gods send nuts to those who have no teeth”. We should be doing what we excel in and try to do the rest better, while still confronting out-of-comfort zone tasks as a personal growth opportunity.
Professional sportsmen. Think about it, they work all year long, constantly aiming for the top. No one remembers the runner up, and for sports you must be at your best shape and form for when it matters the most. In my executive role at QualiTest, I like to use top athletes as a model for work ethic, and if all managers make their teams perform like this, all businesses would be unstoppable.
London, no city can get closer to the intercontinental, inviting, open-to-all setting.
Apple products. I have to admit, I am hooked and can’t (won’t) change.
My kids and my family are foremost the most important thing to me and my biggest passion. Children grow more and more every day, and I was lucky enough to realize that I will only be a father for the first time once, and my kids will only be kids once. I’m with them as much as I can be, and when I’m not, I’m always keeping in mind that I need to catch up for lost time.
