Blogger & Journalist
I live in London and work as a fashion and beauty journalist and also have a blog that focuses on my love for beauty and skincare and recommending and reviewing products. I moved here in 2010 to study and two degrees and over eight years later, I’m still here!
I’m a Greek London-based blogger and journalist with a love for beauty and skincare. I love learning about new ingredients, particularly for acne-prone skin. I believe in the power of self-care and wellness and share my findings with others.
My Daily Thoughts:
Goal of the Day: Be positive and believe in yourself
Thought of the Day: You are exactly where you need to be
Action of the Day: Believe in yourself always
Deed of the Day: Smile at strangers or give someone you don’t know a compliment. It might really make their day!
Tip of the Day: Focus and leave negative thoughts behind
A Day in My Life:
What do you love most about Your City?
London is such an amazing place as you can do and find anything you want. From galleries to endless parks, pubs, Michelin-starred restaurants and everything in between! If only the sun paid us more visits…
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant? I love good eggs, it’s my favourite Sunday brunch, if I don’t have it at home, I like eggs Florentine at The Ivy with a side of truffle fries
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Sleeping! I’ve never been a morning person and I don’t know how people manage!
10:00 AM – In the office, probably replying to emails, probably on my second coffee.
12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?
I usually go to the gym during my lunch time so end up eating on my desk – terrible, I know – and I meal prep on weekends, so I usually have some chicken with sweet potato and salad. I very rarely go out for lunch, but there’s a very cute place near Angel Station call Brother Marcus.
7:00 PM – Probably watching a series and relaxing a bit before doing blog work.
11:00 PM – Usually in bed or preparing for bed. I always spray some pillow spray (Votary or This Works do great ones) before I sleep.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
Coffee! Unfortunately, I can’t live without coffee, or several cups of it – black no sugar, I occasionally have an almond cappuccino. However, I stop drinking it after midday as it really affects me at nighttime. Before I go to bed, I take a magnesium tablet which helps the body wind down, and if I feel I will have trouble sleeping I take a melatonin tablet. Melatonin is naturally produced by the body and it’s your ‘sleepy’ hormone. It’s an all-natural supplement but I only take it occasionally as I don’t want my body to get used to it!
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
Instagram for sure. I love Katie Jane Hughes, an amazing makeup artist based in New York. Her looks always inspire me to be playful with makeup.
What should everyone try at least once?
Proper Greek souvlaki (not kebab, that’s not nearly as nice!)
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
Anywhere where there is sun and sea! I also love roadtrips and walking to discover places.
My Native AdVice:
How did you get into the industry?
Never give up on your dreams, meet and speak to as many people as possible. Everything is a lesson, even if it doesn’t seem so at first. Intern as much as possible while studying, I wish I would have don’t more of that to be honest, as it really helps you see what you like!
Career advice to those in your industry?
The top thing I learnt while studying journalism: Be persistent. You might think you are annoying if you follow up emails, but always always do! I think twice would be the limit though. Overflowing emails causes people to miss things.
Any emerging industry trends?
There’s a real shift towards sustainability within fashion and beauty and that’s refreshing. We only have one planet!
Ideal experience for a customer/client?
I love listening from people and friends that they like a product I’ve recommended to them, or that they enjoy the content I produce.
How do you motivate others?
I always try and focus on the positives, and that’s what I try and do to motivate others. A great piece of advice is to not compare yourselves to others, comparison is the thief of joy! If you do though, then use it in a positive way – the fact that someone is doing what you want to be doing is proof that’s is possible!
My Native AdVantage:
What are my aspirations?
Growing my blog and helping people through skincare, beauty. I do think these are nothing frivolous but can be a real tool of empowerment and self-care.
My Biggest Success?
Meeting so many amazing people and studying at Central Saint Martins. I wanted to do that since high school.
My Most Challenging Moment?
Moving away from home to London when I was just 17 was hard, but thanks to amazing friends and a support system it all went great. I wouldn’t have changed that even though I didn’t know how challenging it would be at times.
Everything happens for a reason!
My Favorite People/Role Models?
Strong women – Oprah, Michelle Obama, my mum!
