Native AdMission Statement (AKA Personal Brand Pitch):

Why is it that people living in Ikaria (a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea, considered a “blue zone”) forget to die? It is because they eat a plant-based, Mediterranean diet, are physically active and have strong community ties. I spend my professional life helping people adopt this type of active, plant-based Mediterranean-style diet and lifestyle for good health and longevity. Heart disease is the number one killer of American men and women—yet it is a preventable lifestyle disease. Follow my advice and you will die of old age rather than cardiovascular disease!

What Else To Know

My Pic of the Day:
Tell Us More:

My Daily Thoughts:

Goal of the Day: To eat well, exercise, follow my passions, spread my mantra and love life.

Thought of the Day: How can I help others to adopt a plant-based diet—a responsible way of eating that is more sustainable and has a lower direct environmental impact than a meat-based diet. How can I influence others to live this way, a lifestyle better for human health, the health of animals and of our planet.

Action of the Day: Practice what I preach.

Deed of the Day: Write a blog or work on research for a new book focusing on the miraculous health benefits of eating authentic extra virgin olive oil—and how to find authentic olive oil amidst a sea of fakes.

Tip of the Day: Try getting some plant-power into your day. Perhaps aim for eating only vegetable protein today (beans, peas, lentils) in lieu of animal protein

A Day in My Life:

What do you love most about Your City?

Currently I am in South Florida for the winter months. I love the ocean and taking long walks on the beach. I am grateful every day for the sunshine and the ability to be active outdoors.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

COFFEE, the ultimate health food! (I brew my own at home.)

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Sleeping. I get 9 hours of solid sleep every night which is, for me, one of the keys to maintaining my excellent health.

10:00 AM – Going to the gym.

12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

I like to pick up a tofu vegetable spring roll at Trader Joes or a whole grain vegetable-packed (with Beyond meat) sandwich at Whole Foods.

7:00 PM –  Sitting on the beach, drinking a glass of red wine with my husband and three dogs.

11:00 PM – Sleeping.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

COFFEE! I drink very strong black coffee throughout the day. I also drink maybe a quart of water during and after exercise. Gotta have my glass or two of red wine to end the day!

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

LOL, my dog IG account @coupleofcavs

What should everyone try at least once?

A day without animal protein.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Lately, I started a new hobby—painting. I find it calms the mind and I get lost in the colors and the design.

My Pic of the Day:

This is a photo of my two daughters, me and my 96-year-old mother. My family is everything to me and every day I learn from my beautiful mother how to age well!

My Native AdVice:

How did you get into the industry?

I have always had a keen interest in nutrition and fitness. As a teenager, my favorite book was Adele Davis “Lets Eat Right to Keep Fit.” I was also inspired by Jane Brody’s writings. On a very personal note, my father died of a heart attack when I was 24 and I decided then and there that I did not want to suffer his same fate.

Career advice to those in your industry?

Follow your passion, have a goal and NEVER give up. Perseverance and tenacity are the keys to success. Many will try to block your path, life will get in the way, just keep going and you will attain your career goals.

Any emerging industry trends?

Green, sustainable eating will have to be the diet of choice for humankind to continue to thrive.

Ideal experience for a customer/client?

My clients will lower their “bad” cholesterol, lose weight and live a longer, heart-disease-free life.

How do you motivate others?

I practice the advice that I give. I eat healthy, exercise and live better!

My Native AdVantage:

What are my aspirations?

Personal: To become a grandmother 😊

Business: To write one more book.

My Biggest Success?

My three children, my husband of 35 years and my books.

My Most Challenging Moment?

I had to step away from my dissertation for a year or so as the stress of raising a family and coordinating my research with difficult professors was overwhelming me. I had to do some soul searching and it took time to figure it out. As I said, life sometimes gets in the way of your goals. I eventually returned to school with a plan. I changed my committee, revised my study and completed my dissertation. I obtained my doctorate and won the “dissertation of the year” award, graduating with an academic award of merit.

My Motto?

“There is no medicine more powerful or supplement more effective in promoting health and longevity than the combination of good nutrition with daily exercise.”

My Favorite People/Role Models?

My mother, Dr. Alma Halbert Bond.

What Else to Know?

I currently write a column for Bottom Line Health
