To live my day to the fullest in all aspects of my life: as a mother – to be present with my children and give them the love and direction that they need as they grow; as a a doctor/entrepreneur/working mom – continuing to spread the understanding of herbal medicine and Eastern philosophies which ultimately help me to live my healthiest and best life day by day; as a daughter, sister and friend.
I have so much gratitude for my life – my loved ones, my opportunities and the challenges that arise, which help me learn to become better.
Continue to plant good seeds (make a positive impact) for future generations.
To spread the understanding of herbal medicine and Eastern philosophy in an effort to help others achieve happiness, in the same way that these principles help me.
Reflect constantly. Take each moment as an opportunity to improve yourself and to manifest good habits.
My Pic of the Day: (any additional pic that expresses something special)
I took this photo while I was speaking at a convention and my 19th month old was back at home. As you can see, he was not thrilled.
A Day in My Life:
What do you love most about Your City?
I love that San Diego is so diverse and open-minded, and of course beautiful. I am grateful to be able to raise my children here for these reasons.
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
My favorite breakfast is an Asian breakfast, which most often consists of soup and rice. In Traditional Oriental Medicine it is important to eat warming foods, especially at the start of your day to nourish and supplement your body. My favorite restaurant is Shorehouse Kitchen because it is a place that my family and I walk to near the beach to have breakfast. We always create good memories here.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – As soon as I open my eyes I take a moment to thank the universe for my life and all of the opportunities that have opened to me, I then glance over my daily to-do list until my 19 month old wakes up. I then grab him and give him warm almond milk while I go to wake up my 5 year old son to get him ready for school. I am then off to make my husband’s breakfast-to-go, and his and my son’ s lunch. Finally I lay out all of our daily herbal supplements (consisting of Bi Bong® herbal formulas and CBD) vitamins and the supergreen hemp protein drink that we created at JBK Wellness Labs, all while answering any emails that have come in ☺. When everyone is out the door, I find at least 15 minutes to practice martial arts and moving meditation techniques, which help me to connect my mind and body, and prepare for the day.
10:00 AM – I am either at a meeting, at the lab formulating or in front of my computer working on my written assignments and blogs.
12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?
Izakaya Sakura. Spicy Tuna Don.
7:00 PM – Just finished serving dinner and bathing my sons. I put my youngest to bed and then spend a bit of time talking with my 5 year old about his day. If my husband is home from work the 3 of us will talk and spend time together. I will read my son a book and have him in bed by 8pm, when I am required to lay with him unto he falls asleep☺
11:00 PM – I am finishing work on my computer with the tv on in the background and then I take at least 10 minuets to meditate/deep breathe to calm my mind and body before bed.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
In the morning I have my cup of tea and I must have my huge Hydroflask of water throughout the day!
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
Anyone inspiring. I enjoy looking at a myriad of accounts that give different outlooks from Deepka Chopra to Gabrielle Bernstein and Gary Vaynerchuk.
What should everyone try at least once?
Try taking even one hour to let go. In this hour, take any of your worries and stresses and release them by changing your perspective, and think positive about them rather than worrying about them. There is nothing more freeing.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
It is not a common occurrence in my life ☺; however you will find me lost in my thoughts in the morning when I am in front of my computer looking out my window where the skyline meets the ocean. I can also find myself “lost” watching my children play.
