I am a qualified nutritionist. I work with individuals, restaurants, brands and the media in order to help individuals make healthier dietary choices. I’m also co-founder of The Yoghurt & Juice Network – a company which delivers nutrition education to children, students, teachers and parents in schools and universities. We focus on empowering and inspiring children and students to make healthier dietary and lifestyle choices.
How did you get into the industry?
I grew up in a really healthy house which I strongly objected to as a child! Although at the age of 16 I started to become fascinated by the way in which food affected how we think, feel and perform. As a result I went to university to study an undergraduate and a masters degree in nutrition. From there I started up my consultancy business where I work with individual clients, brands, cafes, corporate clients and the media.
After a few years my business partner (fellow nutritionist) and I founded The Yoghurt & Juice Network where we deliver nutrition education programmes in schools.
Any industry opportunities or challenges?
As the health industry is booming at the moment and growing at a rapid rate there are constantly new ideas and new products on the market. This can be challenging to try and stay on top of these emerging products and ideas. Equally though, it’s a really exciting time as the research is also constantly developing which means we’re constantly gaining knowledge and new insights.
What’s next for the Business in the near future?
I’m very excited for the next 18 months. In my Jenna Hope Nutrition LTD. Consultancy practice I’m focusing on providing more and more corporate wellness services to help employees manage their stress, mental wellbeing and productivity. I’ve also been working on a number of exciting projects recently which will be coming to fruition in the next few months.
With regards to The Yoghurt & Juice Network we are focusing on spreading our message into more schools and universities to inspire and empower children and students in the UK to make healthier dietary and lifestyle choices.
Ideal experience for a customer/client?
When it comes to client experience it’s really important to invest lots of time into your clients, to be able to provide them with a thorough service and to assess what their greatest issues are. You need to be there to support them, provide them with advice, new ideas to inspire them and to understand where they’re at in their journey. It’s really important that your clients can relate to you and feel safe in your company.
How do you motivate others?
My genuine passion and love for my work really helps me to motivate others. I also ensure that I stay in regular contact with my clients and am constantly providing them with new ideas and information to keep them going and prevent them getting bored.
Career advice to those in your industry?
Work hard, be willing to do the ground work, network as much as you can and stay on top of the latest trends and research.
A Day in My Life:
What do you love most about Your City?
I live in London and I love the fact that there’s constantly new and exciting restaurants. The health scene is also booming in the London which means that I’m often exposed to the latest trends first.
Favorite breakfast meal?
Favourite breakfast is definitely shakshuka. I usually have this on the weekends as there’s more time to make it. Although, I do also love eating out for brunch on the weekends.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – I wake up at 6am and always start off writing my gratitude diary. This helps me start the day with a positive mindset. After this I usually go to the gym or go for a run before breakfast.
10:00 AM – Every day is so different for me so I could be at a brand event in the morning, with clients or checking through my emails.
12:00 PM – On work from home days I tend to whip something up in the kitchen or eat leftovers from the night before (oh so glamourous!) If I’m out and about in London then I’ll either grab a create your own salad, a poke bowl or I love Mildred’s which is a plant-based restaurant in London providing on the go hearty homemade salads.
7:00 PM – Either I’ll be at an evening event, in clinic with clients, seeing friends or finishing off at home.
11:00 PM – I’m usually in bed by 10pm. I think sleep is really important and so I try to ensure that I get 8 hours per night.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
I start every day with a glass of water and a matcha latte. Then I’ll drink water and a variety of green and herbal and green teas throughout the day. On days where I need an afternoon boost I’ll have a second matcha but I really try not to have it later than 2/3pm as I find it affects my sleep.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
Instagram is definitely my most used app! My favourite account is @theguthealthdoctor. Dr Megan Rossi is a registered dietician who specalises in gut health and she’s always sharing latest research around supporting a healthy gut.
