As one of the nation’s most sought-after experts in social marketing, Jennifer has built a career out of making positive change in the world. She leads Hager Sharp, an independent, employee-owned social change agency that helps people live healthier, smarter, safer lives through innovative and strategic marketing and communications initiatives. Jennifer has extensive and proven experience leading campaigns that result in pervasive social change. This has included leading the creation of The Heart Truth®, an award-winning campaign, named one of the top 20 campaigns in the past 20 years by PRWeek in October 2018, that started the women’s heart health movement with its signature Red Dress symbol.
An expert in public health and safety, Jennifer has deep expertise in topics ranging from behavioral science and public-private partnerships to women’s health, healthy aging, cardiovascular disease, cancer, vaccines, and violence prevention. She is a respected thought leader in her field, serving on the editorial board of Social Marketing Quarterly, and as a founding and current board member of the International Social Marketing Association. Jennifer holds an MHS in Behavioral Science and Health Education from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a BS in Business and Economics from Lehigh University.
What do you love most about Your City?
I love many things about Washington, D.C. – its livability and accessibility; the diversity, both in terms of people and neighborhoods; the fact that I can easily see the sky everywhere I go; and Autumn, Winter (especially when we get snow), and Spring.
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
I’m not big on breakfast so I usually just grab some fruit as I’m heading out the door.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Most weekdays I’m dragging myself out of bed to hit the treadmill or bike; sometimes I’m hitting the snooze button. On weekends in spring, summer and fall, I’m often hitting the road for a travel baseball tournament or double-header.
10:00 AM – Meeting with colleagues about client work, new business, or general company operations.
12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?
For a quick lunch, I often head to Roti. For a business lunch, I love Bombay Club. It’s quiet so talking is easy and the food is delicious.
7:00 PM – Getting home, eating dinner (cooked by my wonderful husband), doing the dishes, and powering up for an evening of helping kids with homework or other school-related activities.
11:00 PM – Sometimes still helping with homework. Or, watching TV, reading, or trying to fall asleep.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
Used to be Diet Coke but I kicked that habit a few years ago. Now it’s pretty much water with the occasional seltzer. I do enjoy an occasional glass of wine or a beer.

What should everyone try at least once?
Exploring our wonderful national parks – hiking to a glacier, stargazing, looking for wildlife.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
See above… any National Park. That is, as long as I have my bear spray, plenty of water and my kids aren’t complaining.
