My Goal of the Day:

I have a list in my mind of all of my main goals, and I take small steps daily towards all of those goals. Patience, and focusing on putting in the effort without worrying much about the result is my outlook. You don’t control the outcome anyway, so why focus on that part? I also always have the goal to make anyone I interact with feel heard, valued and understood. I think that’s a huge part of both my coaching style and just how I see things in life.

My goal is always to put in a bit of work in every area that matters, even if it isn’t much time. For example, using an app to learn Spanish for 5-30 minutes a day seems like nothing, but after a year, I can speak well enough that others can understand me. Or, researching chronic health issues might seem like an endless task, but if you put the time in each day, over the years you amass a lot of knowledge and problems become fixed.

Doing my tasks, I note if something isn’t working well and making time to tweak it, getting necessary things done, while staying in a good positive mindset is important to me. Also making sure I’m doing everything while being healthy, and also taking care of myself in all ways. If you burn out, you won’t be getting any tasks done, at all. You have to maintain a car if you want to drive it, and same goes for your body and life.

My Thought of the Day:

Do what you need to do, focus, and be realistic. I focus on that because it’s easy for me to wander off, dream of new possibilities, and jump into new ideas and projects while neglecting the boring tasks. So I focus on the part that is harder for me.

My Action of the Day:

If it’s important, do it. If it can wait, then do it later. I try to not let unimportant things steal my focus. I also look at what kind of day it is. If I’m in the “zone” in some area, I’ll focus on that area. If I’m thinking super clearly, I’ll use that to revisit my overall goals and decisions and tweak my plans to be more efficient. If I’m feeling strong, maybe I’ll go to the grocery store and carry home a huge amount of heavy bags and prep all my food. If I’m exhausted, maybe I’ll lie on the couch with my tablet and do some research that isn’t too challenging or do some creative writing. If I’m in a creative mode, I’ll write or paint something, or make up a new healthy recipe and share it online. I try to squeeze everything in that I can, even if it’s only a few minutes of something — it adds up! Those spare moments over time can bring you a great result like: writing a novel, starting a business, learning a language, etc. But instead of stressing about it and making it a big scary goal, I’ll keep it low key and just work on those things I like in spare moments.

I love New York even after 11 years! I moved here with a suitcase from Arizona, and it’s always felt like home to me. The combination of different types of people, the energy, creativity and ambition. Combining business and creative minds in one small area is one thing I adore about NYC. It’s great to be able to walk places instead of sitting in traffic, and to meet such a variety of people from countries around the world and from neighborhoods all over the area, and find our common ground and interesting differences.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I make breakfast at home because I eat gluten and sugar-free, and most restaurants don’t have many organic items. I’ll usually make a big green smoothie, I take a ton of supplements, herbs and various health things, and I love berries with yogurt and some high-quality honey, or meat and vegetables, or oatmeal. In a pinch, I’ll go anywhere with eggs — organic eggs are a plus! If I’m doing intermittent fasting that day, which I do for a month or so and then take a break, then I’ll wait until evening to eat, which is convenient for saving time on preparing food in the morning! However, I’m a big eater when I’m doing more high energy things.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – either sleeping, or I got up super early to get a head start, depending on the day.

10:00 AM – It changes daily. I make a daily plan based on what’s going on, and what the priority is. It might be paperwork, answering emails, phone calls, etc., or I might be putting together my supplements, blending a giant green smoothie, probably while listening to a health-related webinar since washing and chopping produce is a bit boring.

12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

I usually have meals prepped that I can quickly throw together at home, but in a pinch I’ll grab a Chipotle bowl — really not bad ingredients — salad with olive oil, or any organic meat I can find. When possible, I love to walk over to Central Park and to get in some vitamin D for the day! Sitting on rocks is very grounding for me, literally, since the ground gives the excess electricity in your body somewhere to go.

7:00 PM –  Finish up work, and then I might head to a business event, glass of wine with friends, or possibly a cafe to work on my novels. I might also be lying in the gym sauna — I’m a big believer of detox. Or to mix up the routine, I might be at a local bar salsa dancing or doing karaoke badly.

11:00 PM – I like to practice Spanish at night, which I’m learning for fun and to help my brain continue to grow. I use apps to learn grammar and I enjoy talking to native speakers from around the world and learning about their lives and countries.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

I mostly drink filtered water. I don’t drink caffeine, but I do like an occasional decaf coffee or tea. They’re pretty full of chemicals in conventional brands though, so I only buy certain brands. I also make my own sugar-free hot chocolate, and I’m big on dairy, so I use a lot of organic whole milk and cream.

I like Facebook and Instagram to keep in touch. Any to-do list app is great!

What should everyone try at least once?

Something they’re bad at! And do it in public. It’s much harder than doing something you’re good at. It teaches you self-acceptance and to not hide behind an image of perfection, but to be a real human instead. And real humans are always learning and growing. You become more confident by becoming more human, not more perfect.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

I don’t enjoy being lost! But I love exploring Central Park, as each little part is its own world.
