CEO, THE SPECIALIST WORKS
What do you love most about Your City?
I’m lucky enough to live in London – the greatest city in the world (IMHO!). you could do something different every day for the rest of your life and I’m always discovering new things here
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
One of the lovely things about London is how cosmopolitan it is. That extends to the restaurants, but forced to choose, I’d say breakfast at Bombay street food restaurant Dishoom would be my ideal breakfast
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Getting ready to get out of the house. I like to exercise early, so quite often I’ll be having a protein smoothie before heading to the gym. Not being young any more, I prioritise physical fitness to give me the resilience I need for my work. It helps balance out the foodie side of me as well!
10:00 AM – Usually meeting with internal colleagues, clients or partners. At TSW we work with a lot of partners – often talented specialist agencies themselves. We find them all over the world and it’s exciting to meet people who also believe in doing the right thing for clients and pushing the boundaries of ‘how things should be done’
12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?
Too often it’s a salad at my desk, but I also try and go out to a cheap local eatery with someone from one of our teams every week. It’s such a great way of understanding the business from a range of perspectives. I always leave inspired with new ideas – and I hope the other person feels empowered to try something new
7:00 PM – By now I’m on my 1 hour commute. Often a great time to allow your mind to wander a little. I find myself writing notes on my phone and quite often these become part of the agenda for the next day
11:00 PM – Asleep! I’m an early riser so don’t usually make it past 10pm
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
(Too much) tea.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
Notes App on my iPhone. It helps me enormously to get thoughts out of my head and written down. That way it gets organized in my own head. I can email it to myself or others as well and that way it also gets done. Sometimes simple and useful is best..
What should everyone try at least once?
Anything that makes you uncomfortable because you’re afraid you might fail. Once you do, you realise the world didn’t end – and you’ve conquered the fear of fear. That’s when things get interesting. That and the black dal at Dishoom.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
I love getting lost, a habit I developed because I have no sense of direction. But most of my favourite discoveries have come when I have been wandering around a new city. Stumbling onto Jingshan Park in Beijing and an amazing little Peruvian restaurant in San Francisco are two that spring to mind.
