What Else To Know

My Goal of the Day:

To make a child laugh, to hug my family, and to get some exercise!

My Thought of the Day:

Much as we try, we can’t be in two places at once.

My Action of the Day:

Slow down. At least try to. Or is that a goal?

My Deed of the Day:

Do something nice for someone when nobody else is looking.

My Tip of the Day:

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something you’ve set your heart on.

My Pic of the Day:
Tell Us More:

Los Angeles is so many cities in one.  The people and cultures are varied, the pace is fast, and the edginess keeps it challenging, in a good way. Having great weather (yes, there are seasons, subtle as the changes may be), beautiful mountains, and the ocean makes it a really special place to live.

Favorite breakfast meal:

My favorite breakfast is pretty simple– a bowl of mixed up cereals and nuts with milk, and a huge cup of strong black coffee.  My most indulgent breakfast is a bagel, cream cheese, and lox.  With a huge cup of strong black coffee.

My favorite restaurant is Per Se in New York. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. And if you’re really lucky, maybe more than once.

What I’m doing at:

6:00AM:  On my surgery days, I’m eating that favorite breakfast of mine (not the indulgent one) and getting ready for a day in the OR.  On other days, I’m getting ready to go for an early morning run.

10:00AM: I’m either in the middle of a busy surgery day, or seeing patients in the office.

12:00PM: Lunch for a surgeon? Some cheese, fruit, and an energy bar! I don’t like to go out for lunch. So if you call to arrange a meeting, let’s do breakfast, dinner, or coffee!

7:00PM: The kids are doing homework, maybe my husband (also a surgeon) or I are giving some help if needed, we’re chatting about our days, and doing the dishes together.

11:00PM:  If I’m not sleeping, this is pretty bad news. We start our days at 5:30AM in our house, so by 11:00PM we are hopefully long asleep!

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end?

I try not to drink coffee after that huge cup of strong black coffee in the morning, but I live on hot water during the day. Plain hot water. Even in the summer, especially if I’m indoors.  It keeps me warm, hydrated, and awake.

Most used app/favorite instagram account:

My favorite apps are the social media ones- twitter, facebook, and instagram (I’m too old to figure out snapchat). My favorite instagram account is my daughter’s.  But it’s a private one, so I won’t reveal it!

What should everyone try at least once?

Everyone should try to learn another language. Or two.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Assuming it’s not dark, not raining, and  I’m not being chased by a mountain lion, I love to wander and get lost on hiking trails.  The feeling of being out in the wilderness is incredible.
