What Else To Know

Tell Us More:

What do you love most about Your City?

I’m not sure where I would call my city as I move about a fair bit. Our HQ is in Reading which is great because we’re so close to London, yet enjoy the open space and beautiful surroundings of Green Park where our office is situated. I’m in our London office regularly and think it’s impossible to ever be bored there. Munich is my city for a week every month when I visit our team in Germany; in the summer I love watching the river surfers in the English Garden, and in the winter being able to jump on a train to the Austrian?? alps and be snowboarding (skiing??) a little over an hour later. Manchester is also my city as I have a season ticket at Old Trafford, which is supposed to help me unwind but in recent years has only added more stress to my life.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

As I fly a lot, my favourite way to kickstart a trip is to visit Gordon Ramsey’s at Terminal 5. Fresh juice, eggs Benedict, a flat white and I’m ready for what ever will be thrown my way.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – I’m a night owl. At 6am I’m typically asleep dreaming of scoring the winning goal for United against Liverpool in front of the Kop.

10:00 AM – I’ll be on a call with colleagues either in Munich, Paris, Amsterdam or Madrid discussing new business, clients, projects, staff… and Bayern, PSG, Ajax and Atleti

12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

It has to be Berners Tavern at the London Edition hotel. It’s the perfect place to hold a meeting/briefing as the tables are spread out enough that you don’t feel everyone can hear your conversation. Plus the staff are superb, the food by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton is even better, the location is great, but mostly I just love the décor and lighting. The walls are covered in the most amazing pictures and I’ve never taken anyone there who hasn’t been wowed.

7:00 PM –  I’ll be at home with my one year old son. I like to give him his last bottle of the day and enjoy a cuddle before he goes to bed. Only when he’s asleep will I switch the laptop on and check a few more emails or finish off any work bits. I prefer to leave the office on time so I can enjoy seeing my family and then do some work in the evenings, rather than be late in the office and only make it home to see them sleeping.

11:00 PM – I’ll have switched the laptop off by now and will likely be found on the sofa with the missus watching a boxset. I’m a TV addict and enjoy this form of storytelling.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

No question about it. Coffee. I drink a crazy amount of the stuff throughout any given day. In the evening, I try not to drink alcohol during the week as I’ve found hangovers hurt the older you get, and I don’t sleep as well after a couple of drinks. But if I was to have a tipple, I’d pour myself a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc or a G&T.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Apple music while I’m commuting, weather app to see what the temperature is in the city I’m visiting next so I pack the right stuff, FlashScores for checking the football scores, Netflix to feed my TV addiction, and Nuband-Evolution to check how I’m progressing against my step target for the day. Favourite Instagram accounts include @SpendMummySpend which is run by my partner and features pictures of my little boy. This keeps me sane while I’m running around and away from home – it helps me feel close to my family. The @rickygervais account is hilarious and makes sure I don’t take life too seriously and @primalscreamofficial just includes some awesome pictures and hat tips to some of the coolest bands and records you could get in your life.

What should everyone try at least once?

Attend a feast night at the Hidden Hut in Cornwall. It’s my brothers food shack nestled beside the Cornish coast where he cooks crab caught fresh from the sea on a fire pit, rotisserie chicken and sticky ribs. A feast fit for up to one hundred other food-loving beach goers. It’s my happy place.

If you can’t get to Cornwall then my next answer would be to win an award. Think about something you want to be the best at and strive to win an award in that space. Be the best you can be at what you love, whether it’s PR, writing, singing, dancing or cooking. Push yourself to win an award as it’ll drive everything you do.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In a city. Any city. I love trying to piece together a city in my head by understanding its metro system or simply walking around. Do it a couple of times and then all of a sudden you find you can instinctively find places or stumble upon a hidden gem… or somewhere you need to avoid on future trips. As long as you have the backup of your phone for directions, getting lost is one of the most fun things you can do when visiting a new city, in my eyes.
