GM OF PALAIS HANSEN KEMPINSKI VIENNA
Peter Knoll is the General Manager of Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna. Born in the Black Forest in a small ‘Gasthof’, I took on hospitality already in my earliest years, as our family owns the place over 80 years already. My career started as a chef, from which I ended up in hotel management, joining InterContinental Hotels first and then moving to Kempinski Hotels in 1995.
Working within hospitality for 33 years, brought me to a huge variety of countries such as UK, Bahrain, China, Hungary, Russia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Jordan and now Austria.
Networking with people and I enjoy to be a host.
The Best? What is appreciated by my friends, colleagues and guests is my style of staying in contact and communication. I am there when needed, without being intrusive.
On a personal level, I would like to remain a loyal friend to my closest circle and to be there for them.
On a business level, I would like to make an impact on my new posting in Vienna, both as a person and on a financial way.
Hosting the dinner for HRH Queen Elisabeth II and HE President Ilves during the state visit to Estonia. We even got featured in a BBC documentary.
Evacuating the King of Nepal and 700 guests from a hotel where I was in charge of Front Office, whilst the city got flooded and the guests could only be taken out of the hotel lobby by boat, with no electricity, surrounded by water all around the hotel and no streets in sight.
Remember the past, dream of the future, but don’t forget to live in today!
My grandmother, as she showed me how to rise from nothing and make the best of the current situation.
Budapest and surrounding Central Europe, I just love the mix of history and modern life style.
A good red wine; a great farmer’s butcher plate; excellent cheese – that is all I need to be happy.
