What do you love most about Your City?

Having watched it grow up a little. The vast expanse is still overwhelming. It’s like a bunch of lively burrows attached without a central control station. But that also gives it a uniqueness and the challenge to find the magic in every place.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

Don’t eat breakfast and never have. I like the feeling of being empty when I first begin to think and feel. I go to restaurants for the good feelings of being there. The type of food is unimportant. Caring people, quality, gentle ambiance, good service.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Often on my way to work, grateful for the day emerging.

10:00 AM – Seeing patients, writing, or walking our dog. Sometimes, on the weekends, doing errands.

12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

If it’s during the week, it’s a little Japanese place that has a reasonably priced and delicious Bento Boxes. During the week, when I’m working, I eat very simply because I’m busy and food is not as important as attending to the people I care about. 

7:00 PM – Just getting home. Park my car at the bottom of our hill and let go of the day so that I can embrace the evening without my experiences spilling over into the next phase of my life.

11:00 PM – Sleeping, hopefully.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

I have not had any kind of alcohol for over forty years. Went without it for a year as part of my discipline shrine, and loved the results.

What should everyone try at least once?

Being courageous on the other end of something that would normally let fear hijack the results.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In my daydreams.

Just saw an amazing sunset. Never ceases to impact my soul. When I feel overwhelmed with more demands than I have resources, I turn on You Tube and look for soldiers coming home to their children, animals being rescued, some Ellen for sure, fascinating non-partisan socio-political interactions, Ted talks, children in wonder learning something for the first time, being touched tenderly, realizing that I’ve just been given the blessing of more time on the planet.
