AWARD-WINNING PRODUCER, WRITER & DIRECTOR
Rose Mendonca is an innovative, award-winning producer, writer, and director for independent film, commercial, and webseries. Her passion for producing earned her the 2013 Next Talent Fellowship Award, the same year she made her directorial debut with The Wing Man, a comedy short that screened at Sacramento’s first annual Wizard World Comic-Con. In 2016, Rose wrote, produced and directed Laundromat, a noir film awarded the Grand Jury prize at L.A. NEO NOIR, NOVEL, FILM, AND SCRIPT FEST IV in Santa Monica, California. Rose is a member of several organizations including Women in Media and the Alliance of Women Directors. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Empire Arts Collective, a non-profit organization for the arts. Current projects include The Littlest Undertaker (DIR. Kevin Molohan), a fantasy film about a boy searching for happiness, and Banned (DIR. Jasmine Ali), a drama about the effect of the travel ban on one Muslim family.
What do you love most about Your City?
Sacramento is a very creative city. Mayor Darrell Steinberg is so supportive of the arts that he created the Creative Economy pilot project through the office of innovation.
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
On occasion, I enjoy a plate of juevos rancheros at the local cantina.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – yoga
10:00 AM – meeting with my creative team
12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?
7:00 PM – eating dinner
11:00 PM – watching netflix or hulu
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
Coffee – at least two cups in the morning, sometimes with an extra espresso shot or two. Red Bull – though I really am trying to cut back – one in the afternoon.
