Alonzo holds a BS Degree in Movement Science Education & Professional Instruction from Grand Valley State University. He lettered in football, basketball, and track in high school. Collegiately, he played defensive lineman for the two-time Division II National Championship-winning football team at GVSU, before moving on to the professional arena. He is currently a fitness model with the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency and was a private trainer before opening up Tone HouseR. The team camaraderie and high level of physical and mental conditioning Alonzo achieved during his formative years ultimately shaped his vision for Tone House. Alonzo currently holds the following certifications:

  • Trigger Point Self-Myofascial Release Techniques
  • USA Weightlifting – Level 1 Sports Performance Coach
  • TRX Certified Instructor

What do you love most about Your City? 

  • I love NYC because…if you can do it here you can do it anywhere! Starting a business in NYC is challenging, but the great thing is that if you can make it work in NYC, you can make it work anywhere.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

  • Favorite breakfast is eggs with cheddar cheese.
  • Favorite restaurant is Madam Vo. Madam Vo is a Vietnamese restaurant which is known for the famous PHO bowl with the short rib. I also get to practice my Vietnamese – fun fact is I can speak Vietnamese.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM –

  • Usually teaching classes at Tone House. I teach 5am, 6am, 7am on Fridays, which is Tone House Conditioning Day – our hardest day of the week. If I am not teaching I am writing training programs for the week ahead.

10:00 AM –

  • Teaching classes at Tone House.  If I am not teaching during the day, I am in meetings with our executive team and coaching staff.

12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

  • Tone House FUEL. I love Tone House FUEL because it has all of the nutrition information and ingredients listed on the label. It is very important to me that I know what I am putting into my body. It’s also convenient as we have grab and go refrigerators at our Nomad and UES studios.

7:00 PM – 

  • Teaching at Tone House (shocker!). I teach the late classes on Monday and Tuesday nights. These are our Tone House 101 classes, which I love, because I get to introduce new athletes to the turf.

11:00 PM –

  • Walking Home – I enjoy walking home late at night as it helps clear my mind.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

  • Water. I drink a little over a half gallon of water every day.

What should everyone try at least once?

  • Tone House. Taking your fitness more seriously is something we all need to do. Taking class at Tone House not only gets you in great shape, but it helps you become mentally strong as well. You also meet teammates that become your life long friends.

Where do you enjoy getting lost? 

  • Manhattan is my favorite place to get lost in because there is so much to do and see. Even though it’s just a small island, you will never get see it all.
