What do you do best?:

I’m really good at communicating complicated nutrition content in a fun, manageable way for the lay person.

What makes you the best version of yourself?:

I think just that I’m incredibly hard working and I press forward even when Ive been met with a million challenges. I never give up.

What are your aspirations? (Personal and Business):

a. Personally, I want to learn how to better enjoy my life without feeling guilty about it not always being perfect.

b. Business wise, I want to learn how to continue to grow as a business without driving myself crazy. I need to let go and deligate more so that I can plan the bigger picture pieces of my work.

Biggest Success?:

Just starting and building Abbey’s Kitchen has been a huge success for me. I built this baby from nothing, just from a silly idea I had in the moment when I quit grad school and I now own a very successful nutrition and food communication business.

Most Challenging Moment?:

I think deciding to quit school and take on blogging full time was incredibly scary. I had always pictured myself as an academic, and everyone expected me to have a successful career with a PhD. But my heart wasn’t in it.  So when one day, out of the blue, I decided to drop out of my full-scholarship grad program and take on blogging full time because I was miserable, I really had to jump. But I cannot describe how much happier I am now. It was the best decision I ever made.

My dad told me, “Abbey if you put yourself up on a pedestal you’ll have no where left to grow.” I remind myself that when I feel like I “failed” at something, but really, I was just being human.

Favorite People/Role Models?:

I love Madonna because she has a ton of haters and trolls, but she just keeps on being herself and singing her own tune.

Favorite Places/Destinations?:

I love Europe- specifically Spain and Italy. I love the walkable culture, and the food is absolutely amazing.  I also think Europeans know how to live. They work to live, and live to eat, not the other way around.

Favorite Products/Objects?:

In my kitchen, I couldn’t live without my spiralizer. I also am obsessed with my BBQ and literally grill everything. In my office, I love my file folders. Ha, I’m an organizational freak, so I am obsessed with putting things away into storage in an organized filed way.

Current Passions?:

Cooking may be my job, but it’s also my passion. I also love fitness. I am one of those crazy people who love working out – I actually enjoy it! And it doesn’t have to be strenuous. Going for walks with my husband is one of my favourite things ever.
