IllusionPhotograph founder Beatrice Pitocco is a self taught photo artist who created IllusionPhotograph.com to share her art, poetry, writing, philosophy. She traveled to Peru and wanted something to bring a light in the dark times she was facing. She decided to convert her art and photography into something that people could admire and keep in their pocket as a keepsake. Her beautiful photography comes in the form of phone accessories and in canvas and wall prints. Since her travels to Peru, she’s made giving back an integral part of Illusionphotograph.com’s mission working with Living Heart Peru to bring color to the lives of children living in some of the most impoverished and remote areas of the country.

A Day in My Life:
What do you love most about Your City? Toronto is a great city, friendly with a great atmosphere. I live by the lake, which is always buzzing.
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant? Does coffee count as a meal? Favourite restaurant…anything Italian.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – waking up
10:00 AM – checking my to do list of daily things to accomplish
12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal? – not big on lunch but if I have to, there is a great local spot called Eden right by me, that makes the best thin crust pizza.
7:00 PM – unwinding, taking my dog for a walk.
11:00 PM – dreaming
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)? Primarily coffee in the morning, about 3 cups and then I begrudgingly switch to water for the rest of the day.

What should everyone try at least once? Skydiving
Where do you enjoy getting lost? in my mind, and also in any city I don’t know.
My Native AdVice:
How did you get into the industry?
In 2016, I decided that I no longer wanted to just continue doing what I was doing. I needed more; so I looked for a charity that I could somehow support. I also started to become very interested in online commerce business, and took different courses to understand the business. was born from my desire to merge my passion with a business that can do something more meaningful.
Career advice to those in your industry?
My only career advice is to follow your instincts – if you are not happy where you work or with what you are doing, you should question why you are doing it. There will come a time when it won’t be just about money, and if you aren’t doing something that fulfills you, you should. Oh, and NEVER give up.
Any emerging industry trends?
Being socially conscious has become somewhat of a ‘trend’ in many industries. And many people may look at that as a negative, as though some are trying to capitalize on those less fortunate. I believe that with all the trends out there, this is a more positive one. There is a shift in mindset and I believe that entrepreneurship combined with philanthropy is a new kind of business mindset – philentrepreneurship. I just made that word up but I like it. I’m a Philentrepreneur.
Ideal experience for a customer/client?
Our smartphone cases and home decor is all original artwork, mainly my own, but I’ve worked with the children of where they designed some of images on our smart phone wallet cases. I think the experience I hope for is that customers will appreciate that our goal is to include the children in changing their own lives. Having them draw pictures is something small but it aligns with my philosophy of Charity with Dignity.
How do you motivate others?
I don’t think anyone can motivate anyone. There has to be a desire within to self propel, and self motivate. The best I can do is simply be there for someone, even when they aren’t motivated, because it’s ok to feel unmotivated. The problem in our society is that we make it not ok to FEEL. Every feeling, every emotion is ok, as long as you don’t stay there.
My Native AdVantage:
What are my aspirations?
Personally I want to find peace of heart and mind, as well as to do something more meaningful with my life. From a business perspective the goal is simple – to raise $150,000 for through the sale of phone cases (one case at a time if I have to). The funds will be used primarily to build a library for the community that Living Heart Peru Supports.
My Biggest Success?
Oddly enough my biggest success is being able to overcome my biggest failures. To maintain steadfast in my mind, that things would get better. And as is true for most, it will get better.
My Most Challenging Moment?
The death of my father. It came quickly and abruptly and changed almost every thing about how I thought my life should be. I came to terms with the brevity of life, and that in the end, most of the things we think are important, just simply aren’t. The most important thing in life, and in death, is humanity which connects us all.
None of this is real. Life is illusion. So if something breaks your heart, pick up the pieces and give pieces of your heart to everyone you meet.
My Favorite People/Role Models?
My dog. Not ‘technically’ a person but definitely a role model. He’s never angry, never worries about ‘making it’. Really doesn’t take things too seriously. Loves with all his heart, and loves me for all the right reasons. Plays hard, sleeps hard. Takes no BS, and barks (even at the big dogs) to protect what he loves.
