What Else To Know

What do you love most about Your City?

Pittsburgh is a special place. While it is best known for its sports teams and steel mills and bridges, the city is also a hub for healthcare, technology, education, finance and culture. The people are very resilient and authentic. The collapse of the steel industry in the 80s could have done Pittsburgh in, but it did not. The city picked itself up, and to this day continues to adapt to an ever-changing global economy. One of my favorite things about Pittsburgh is the view of the skyline when you enter the city through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. It’s simply unmatched and is even featured in the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I don’t often eat a proper breakfast, but I do occasionally enjoy an egg white McMuffin from McDonald’s. (I know, right?) Naming one favorite restaurant is tough because there are many fantastic eateries in Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas. But it would have to be Magg’s at the Club at Shadow Lakes, an exceptional fine-dining restaurant near my home. Here, during “Food Friday,” you can get five-star meals in a beautiful golf course setting for only $20. It’s some of the finest cuisine and ambiance available anywhere.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – I’m still asleep. I rise at 7:00 a.m. and immediately turn on the news to catch up on what’s happened overnight. Then I start plowing through email from reporters and putting them in touch with our technology subject matter experts.

10:00 AM – Each day is different, really. I can be on a conference call with our product marketing folks or analysts. Or reviewing press releases. Or doing planning for upcoming reports. Or looking at electronic “clips” of media hits. It just depends on what news is breaking that day or what we have going on here at the firm.

12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

I eat at my desk most days, and it is usually leftovers from the night before.

7:00 PM –  I’m typically finishing up dinner and checking in on CNN. There’s a theme here – I’m a newshound.

11:00 PM – I’ll take one last look through email and Facebook and start getting ready for bed (although I usually don’t fall asleep until around 12:30 a.m.; I like to catch the late-night shows).

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

It used to be cola, but I’m trying to give it up and now only have it occasionally. This is a really hard thing, because I really enjoy it. And I miss the caffeine. Now I drink lots and lots of purified water.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Facebook, hands down. I haven’t really gotten into Instagram.

What should everyone try at least once?

International travel. I’ve been very fortunate to travel to some awesome places, including Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, the UK, Israel, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Haiti, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands and Canada. Travel is good for the mind and soul.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Binge-watching a great series on Netflix, Prime Video or Hulu.
