What do you love most about Your City?
I enjoy living in the greater Chicago area and I love Chicago! The people are diverse, enthusiastic, and welcoming. We have the Field Museum of Natural History, the Art Institute, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. There is always something to do in the Chicago/ metro area, ranging from outdoor concerts at Grant Park or Ravinia, or just walking along the lakefront and taking in the views.
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
My typical breakfast is berries and oatmeal or yogurt, at home, and coffee, at least 2 cups.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Sleeping, until 7 AM, whenever possible. I am a strong believer in getting 8 hours of sleep for mental as well as physical well-being.
10:00 AM – I am usually seeing my first clients at my office at 10AM. I’ll continue to conduct psychotherapy sessions until 7 PM, with several breaks in between those hours. Most of the morning and afternoon sessions are with individuals, while the couples and families tend to come in during the late afternoon and early evening hours.
12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?
Lunch tends to be at 1:30 or 2 PM and I try to keep it light. The location doesn’t matter much to me, as long as it’s not my office. I find that it helps for me to get out of my work space by mid-day in order to de-stress and get a fresh perspective.
7:00 PM – I’m finishing up with my final session of the day, putting some notes into the files for the next sessions. A few times per week, I’ll head to the gym for a brief cardio work out after my last session. The exercise helps to clear my mind of the issues dealt with during the day. Then I’m headed home for dinner with my husband.
11:00 PM – By this time, I am closing a book which may be an autobiography or historical fiction or whatever is on the current best-seller list. I’m currently reading “Fear” by Bob Woodward.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
I always have that morning coffee, and then alternate among various teas (green, herbal, etc.) and water. I find it relaxing to have either kombucha tea or ginger tea at the end of the day.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
I have to admit that my most used App is Google Maps, because I have no sense of direction, geographically speaking, that is. My favorite App, however, is Open Table because it’s a fun challenge to find the healthiest restaurant offerings that still taste wonderful.
What should everyone try at least once?
Try a professional massage for relaxation.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
I don’t enjoy getting lost. It is not a pleasant experience for me. I’d rather be stuck in an elevator, or caught in a tidal wave. However, I do enjoy wandering. But then, as J.R. Tolkien wrote, “Not all those who wander are lost.”
