What do you love most about your city?
New York is truly one of the most cutting edge cities in America, possibly the world. It’s the epicenter for forward thinkers and risk takers, and deliciously combines history and tradition with modernism and rule breaking.
However, I think the greatest thing about being a New Yorker is that you never have to visit anyone— everyone comes to New York.
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
I’m pretty simple in the mornings. Most of the time, I will have Espresso with a banana and a protein bar.
What are you doing at:
6:00am — I wake up at 4:30am and am out the door by 5. My building has a beautiful gym and pool facilities; I’ll go straight to the pool and swim laps. It’s a full body workout while still being a gentle way to wake the body up. Afterward, I’ll do a quick meditation— I’ve been practicing for about 7 years— to help my mind prepare for the many tasks ahead of me in the day. I get to the office around 6:30/7am. I like being the first person there in the morning; it sets the tone for my employees: it shows them how committed I am to our projects.
10:00am — By 10:00am, I’m knee deep in emails, phone calls, and mitigating the usual unexpected challenges that arise in an office environment. I like doing office work when I’m freshest, in the mornings. That leaves the rest of my day for scheduled meetings, and working alongside my team.
12:00pm — Favorite Power Lunch Spot?
I work walking distance from Koreatown. My typical routine is to get a rice bowl, or seafood noodle soup, from Five Senses. If I’m too busy to leave the office for lunch, I’ll order avocado toast for delivery.
7:00pm — I’m leaving the office. My evenings vary greatly: I do kickboxing three evenings a week, volunteer work teaching coding to kids every Wednesday evening, and am a member of several leadership organizations that host events and meetings regularly. If my evening is free, I’ll be trying out the hottest new restaurant with friends and coworkers (as long as there’s a great wine list!)
11:00pm — I’ll be at home, unwinding with a book or watching the news. By midnight, I’m already dead asleep.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
Aside from my morning espresso, I stick to water throughout the day. Hydration is crucial. Equally crucial: I have a ginger shot every day, after lunch.
For evening events, I love a good Napa Pino Noir, or a South African Pinotage. I only drink socially, while out at dinner, but I always finish the bottle.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
As cliche as it sounds, I use my messenger app more than any others. Additionally, I’m always pulling out my phone to take photos— for work inspiration and as a hobby. My favorite instagram account, by far, is a Brooklyn photographer, @evamueller
What should everyone try at least once?
Customer service work.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
Burning Man. It’s like wandering through a dream.
