What do you love most about Your City?
The weather. I mean no, it’s terrible in the winter, but the rest of the year it’s spectacular. And if it weren’t for the winter, Chicago would be the largest city in the U.S., and who wants that?
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
Don’t eat breakfast typically, but if I have a morning meeting I like Slightly Toasted on Clinton. Coffee shop in the morning, whiskey bar at night.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Hitting the snooze alarm
10:00 AM – Meditating and writing letters of gratitude to those who have been most influential in my life. Oh, wait, that’s what I should be doing then. As for what I’m actually doing, it could be anything, no two days are the same.
12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal? – Those who know me know I don’t do power anything. But now that you mention power, I do like the powerhouse salad at Potbelly (note to self: maybe I’m not charging clients enough).
7:00 PM – I’m home with the family and have finished dinner. Will try the morning’s crossword, watch some TV, catch up on things that have been sitting in my inbox for too long. You know, things like surveys of PR people.
11:00 PM – Some people binge Netflix late at night, I binge Zillow. We’re two and a half years from an empty nest, so I’ll pour a small bourbon and surf around where Propllr needs to open a satellite office. Looking for a place short on natural disasters and civil war monuments, and long on readily available fresh water comfortable winters.
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)? – I’ve gone without it, but I’d say black coffee if for no other reason than the ritual of it.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
Spotify without question, but listening to music is like breathing so maybe that doesn’t count. The Athletic is great for smart sports coverage, and it started here in Chicago. The New York Times app is the model for what all media apps should be. Pocket is a great way to collect articles too long to read during the workday – and you can listen to a robot read them to you when you’re on the go. I like to get a bunch of articles saved up and then listen to them on a road trip. As for Instagram, I pretty much only follow friends and family – boring, I guess.
What should everyone try at least once?
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
No place in particular, but getting lost is fine now because at any time you can hit up Google Maps and get home. It’s made getting lost both more and less fun.
