Engaging in my work in ever changing creative ways.
What can I create today?
Writing and Planning
Supported a dear friend.
Light a delicious smelling candle on your work desk.
The silence and the incredible night skies. Nothing beats being at home on my ranch in Ojai, far away from traffic and light pollution. Clean air, my own well water, my animals and homegrown organic foods = Heaven!
I do travel for 10 months out of the year though, splitting my time between Europe, the US and Australia. I feel privileged to have a “my city” on each continent.
Amsterdam: Beauty, Art, Water everywhere, and an active walking lifestyle.
Byron Bay: Empty beaches, endless skies, amazing food and the most incredible birds ever!
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
Eggs – ideally from my own chickens, poached with some steamed greens, coconut oil and sesame seasoning. Favorite restaurant at the moment: Nocciola in Ojai, closely followed by Harvest in Newrybar, Australia.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Waking up, having my first cup of tea and cuddling my dogs.
10:00 AM – When I’m teaching, we’ll start the day at this time. When I am writing, I’m already several hours into it, on office days I’ll be done with emails at this time and making a cup of tea.
12:00 PM – Favorite Lunch spot/meal?
When I’m home I want homecooked, homegrown food and ideally I’m not leaving the house at all. When I’m teaching and traveling, a light meal in a quiet spot is appreciated but not always possible. Favorite lunch would be my Amsterdam “go-to” a bowl of rice, raw salmon, greens, miso dressing and mango.
7:00 PM – Depends on my teaching schedule. Either it’s the end of the dinner break and I’m going back in for another 3 hours, or I’m winding down from a shorter teaching day with a good meal and a glass of wine. When I’m home I’ll be sitting in my flower garden with my animals and a drink, chatting with friends.
11:00 PM – In the bathtub, ending my day with a magnesium soak. It’s a non-negotiable ritual…
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
I am an avid tea drinker. I can easily have 6-8 cups a tea during my workday. I have a special Tea Set I travel with and often treat my tea time as a ritual. It’s my favorite way to pause, check in with myself, punctuate activities or think. My favorites are Pu-Erh and Chai. At the end of the day, particularly after teaching, I’ll have a glass of Red Wine.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
App: My I-phone camera. I love taking pictures everywhere I go.
Favorite Instagram account at the moment is @wolfgang2242 (A pack of senior dogs, a chicken, a rabbit and a moody pig named Bikini)
What should everyone try at least once?
Cold dips and showers. It’s rough to begin with, but after a while the benefits are incredible and the feeling is pure aliveness.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
In my garden. I could spend days tending to my flowers, working in the vegetable beds and sitting watching the turtles in my pond. My best creative moments come from time spent there.
